Sweepstakes Changes for 2021

Due to the cancellation of the 2020 National Specialty we are adding a special event to help make up for those who missed out. For 2021 only we are adding a  “maturity” sweepstakes for 18-21, 21-24, 24-27 and 27-30 months. A Best and Best Opposite in Maturity will be selected.

This additional event will be judged on Thursday morning by Sweepstakes judge Cheryl Kienast before Regular dog classes.

In the event that the puppy and veteran entry on Wednesday excedes the maximum daily count for a judge an additional sweepstakes judge will be assigned.

4-6 Month Puppy Class

Intended to introduce new exhibitors/puppies to the dog-show world in a stress-free and relaxed environment and an opportunity for puppies to socialize with people and other dogs at an optimal time of their development.

We will enjoy this class on Friday morning and hope that all new babies come out to show their stuff.

Herding Titled Classes

  • Any Cardigan Welsh Corgi over 6 months of age that has acquired an AKC Herding title of record will be eligible for this class.
  • The winner of these classes will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed. A dog that has been neutered or spayed is NOT eligible to be exhibited in this Class.
  • If entered in this class and BOB they may NOT be exhibited in BOB if they are defeated in the Herding Titled non-regular class.
  • Instinct tests are a certificate, NOT a title and therefore do not qualify a dog for the class.

Best of Breed Judging

Entries for Best of Breed judging will be brought into the ring in groups of 10 –12 as noted in the catalog. Mass check-in at the start of the day is up to the judge and will be announced.. Groups will run in order as published and a reasonable lunch break will be determined by the judge and announced as early as possible.

If someone has more than one entry and they fall into the same group, they will be able to change groups by contacting the Chief Ring Steward, ringside only, prior to 8AM the day of judging and preferably before the end of judging the two days prior to Best of Breed judging.

Pictures will be done at the end of the day unless the judge determines otherwise.

IF YOU HAVE MULTIPLE BEST OF BREED ENTRIES & WANT THEM SEPARATED IN THE CATALOG, PLEASE NOTIFY THE SUPERINTENDENT IN WRITING BEFORE ENTRIES CLOSE & DOCUMENT IT FOR YOUR RECORDS.

Changes are not allowed after entries have closed without documentation of notification that request was made prior to close of entries. Groupings will be posted at the Superintendent’s table, the armband table, and ringside when they become available.

In the event that an individual should make the cut with more than one exhibit ‐ it is their responsibility to have alternate handlers available for their entries (as would occur under normal judging procedures)
