Please come join us at our 2019 National Specialty Herding Trials and watch our wonderful cardigans perform what they were bred to do!
The Herding Trial will be Cardigans Only.
Sheep: A course at levels Started, Intermediate, and Advanced. Herding and Pre-Trial tests.
Ducks: A and B courses: Started, Intermediate, and Advanced.
Saturday Judge: Shelly Spotswood
Sunday Judge: Lisa M Pruka
From our Herding Chair Nancy Brag:
Tracy Parciak is supplying the ducks. Anyone who has trialed on her ducks knows how wonderful they are. Tracy has been Livestock Director for Purina for about a year. She has been allowed to sell Purina’s most difficult/challenging sheep and buy new ones which she has been working with. Purina sheep have developed a poor reputation over the years but I feel confident that we will find them greatly improved for our Specialty trial. Tracy is an excellent stock handler so I really want to encourage our members to enter on sheep, not just ducks.
Our judges will be Shelly Spotswood from Louisiana and Lisa Pruka from Illinois. I have trialed under both of them and found them to be fair and consistent in their judging. Tracy Parciak will be the Stock Handler, over-seeing sheep and ducks.
Instinct tests will be offered on Wednesday, May 8th. Entries are limited to 20 dogs due to the number of suitable sheep.
Auction chair Renee Bernard is asking everyone to consider donations of gently used and brand new items for the Herding Trial Silent Auction. Especially desired are functional items, artwork (we have very talented members), and Cardigan/herding themes.
We depend on the Silent Auction proceeds to help fund these Trials.
Please let Renee know if you can contribute your artwork and items. If you won’t be attending the Herding Trials, we can work out how to get your donations there.
